  3. You will find this utility to be extremely helpful in
  4. controlling the timed shutdown of your applications.
  5.  
  6. Please be sure to start WinKillr itself before attempting
  7. to use it with other applications.  This will assure the
  8. proper path is established in the WINKILLR.INI file in your
  9. WINDOWS directory.
  10.  
  11. See the on-line help file for further details and suggestions
  12. for use.  You can start the on-line help for reference at any
  13. time by starting up WinKillr from its own icon or by double-
  14. clicking on the WINKIL10.HLP file in FileManager
  15.

  25. The files below are in compressed format and will be expanded by 
  26. SETUPWK when it is run - they CANNOT be used directly:

  28. HELPFILE.WR_ - The help documentation in Windows Write format
  29. REGISTER.TX_ - Registration form in ASCII format called by
  30.                  registration procedure
  31. SHAREWAR.TX_ - Information on shareware in ASCII format 
  32.                  called by registration procedure
  33. WINKIL10.EX_ - The executable program file
  34. WINKIL10.HL_ - The Windows help file supporting WinKillr

  37. IMPORTANT: WinKillr is a Microsoft Visual Basic program and 
  38. requires that the file VBRUN300.DLL be in the /WINDOWS/SYSTEM 
  39. directory (or elsewhere on the path) of your computer.  This 
  40. file is widely available and hence, because of its very large 
  41. size, is not distributed with WinKillr as part of the KILLR_10.ZIP
  42. or KILLR.ZIP archive.  It is available on CompuServe in the 
  43. WinUtil Forum, Library 1 as VBRUN3.ZIP.  It is also available
  44. from virtually every other bulletin board and catalog operation 
  45. in the world.  Do not proceed with the installation of WinKillr 
  46. until you have verified that this file is in your /WINDOWS/SYSTEM 
  47. directory OR the file VBRUN300.DL_ is located in the same 
  48. directory as OWSETUP.EXE and KILLR_10.ZIP (this will be the case 
  49. if you are installing from a disk received directly from 
  50. Open Windows)!!

  52. Installation:
  53.  
  54. To install WinKillr from a floppy disk received from Open Windows:
  55.  
  56. 1.  While in Windows, insert the floppy disk in the drive.
  57.  
  58. 2.  Open File Manager and select the floppy disk.
  59.  
  60. 3.  Double click on the file OWSETUP.EXE to run it.
  61.  
  62. 4.  Follow the on-screen directions.
  63.  
  64. To install WinKillr starting with only a copy of KILLR_10.ZIP
  65. (KILLR.ZIP if obtained from CompuServe):
  66.  
  67. 1.  Create a temporary directory (C:\KILLTEMP will do) on your 
  68. hard drive.  
  69.  
  70. 2.  Copy KILLR_10.ZIP to this directory.
  71.  
  72. 3.  Unzip the file using PKUnZip or other "UNZIPper".  This 
  73. should produce the files listed in the packing list above.
  74.  
  75. 4.  Run SETUPWK.EXE from Windows.  This will take you through 
  76. the procedure of installing WinKillr on your hard disk.
  77.  
  78. 5.  You may delete all of the files in the temporary directory 
  79. from your hard drive after completing the installation process, 
  80. but remember to save a copy of KILLR_10.ZIP on a floppy for 
  81. friends who may wish to try WinKillr.
